Sangkuriang Catfish is known for its high adaptability, fast growth, and disease resistance, making it highly suitable for cultivation in various aquatic conditions. Catfish is one of the top aquaculture products in terms of production volume. The breeding of Sangkuriang Catfish was chosen as the focus of the fieldwork practice (PKL) as an effort to meet the demand for Sangkuriang Catfish fry in Indonesia, particularly in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The methods used in the fieldwork practice included participatory approaches, observation, and interviews. The objective of this PKL activity was to understand the techniques involved in the breeding of Sangkuriang Catfish (Clarias gariepinus). The breeding process at the Great Freshwater Aquaculture Center (BBPBAT) in Sukabumi, West Java, utilized artificial spawning techniques. The stages included broodstock maintenance, broodstock selection, conditioning, spawning, preparation of hatching containers, larval harvesting, preparation of larval rearing containers, and final larval harvesting. The spawning results, with a ratio of 10 male and 25 female catfish, produced an average fecundity of 341,888 eggs, an average Fertilization Rate (FR) of 86.77%, an average Hatching Rate (HR) of 89.25%, and a Survival Rate (SR) of 45.77%.
